Utva Lasta

The Utva Lasta is a tandem-seat low-wing trainer manufactured by UTVA. The aircraft is capable of basic training functions including aerobatics instrument tactical and night flying. Lasta in Serbian is the Hirundinidae swallow.

Texans and UTVA Lasta 95s has allowed the opening of a fixed-wing flying training school near Kirkuk, but an advanced, lead-in jet trainer is still missing.1
A new UTVA Lasta trainer was under development in 1990.2

1150-kg tandem-seat Utva Lasta (Swallow) has recently entered small-scale production. Some 20 Lasta 95s are being supplied to Iraq, and 15 to the Serbian Air Force.3
