The Tupolev Tu-160, NATO code name ‘Blackjack’, was a bomber project first started in the early 1970s by the Soviet Union as a response to the U.S. B-1 program.5
The Tupolev Tu-160 is a heavy four-engine supersonic strategic bomber with swing-wings developed by the Soviet Design Bureau OKB Tupolev (today Tupolev PSC, Russia).6
