The Short N.3 Cromarty was a prototype British twin-engined biplane flying boat designed towards the end of the First World War. Only a single example was built first flying in 1921 and being wrecked in 1922.

Post war a Vickers Valentia and a Short Cromarty flying boat were both fitted with the COW for development in the anti sub role but the money ran out.3

Short Cromarty and a P5 ? apparantly a great deal was learned both about theory and practice.4
Short Cromarty and the experimental Vickers Valentia, all made in 1921, had provision for one in the nose.5
