The Ilyushin Il-38 is a maritime patrol aircraft and anti-submarine warfare aircraft designed in the Soviet Union. It was a development of the Ilyushin Il-18 turboprop transport.

warfare (ASW) and maritime patrol aircraft derived from the stretched
fuselage of the Il-18 turboprop airliner which first flew in 1957.2
Ilyushin Il-38SD 'May' maritime patrol aircraft (MPA) for the Indian
Navy made its maiden flight on 03 July 2003 from Khodinka airfield in
Moscow.3
