Hansa-Brandenburg D.I

The Hansa-Brandenburg D. I also known as the KD (Kampf Doppeldecker) was a German fighter aircraft of World War I. Despite poor handling it was built for Austria-Hungary some aircraft serving to the end of the war.

Fielded in 1916, the Hansa-Brandenburg D.I was a transitional aircraft of German design but Austrian manufacture. Its stability and visibility were so bad that the pilots called it ‘The Coffin.1
Albatros scouts or the Hansa-Brandenburg D.I, it was sturdy, reliable and very maneuverable. Entering service during the summer of 1917, the HD.1 proved its worth throughout the war.2
