Great Lakes XTBG

The Great Lakes Aircraft Company XTBG-1 also known as Avenger was a prototype torpedo bomber intended for service in the US Navy as part of that service's plan to modernise its aerial striking force in the mid 1930s. The XTBG-1 was outperformed by the competing TBD Devastator however in addition to having instability problems and only a single prototype of the three-seat design was constructed during 1935.

the first being the Great Lakes XTBG-1 biplane which was rejected on the grounds of instability and inadequate performance and the second was the Douglas XTBD-1.1

Made by Great Lakes Aircraft Company.

On the other hand, the Great Lakes XTBG-1, of which only a single prototype was built, was the last biplane in the torpedo-bomber category to be procured by the US Navy.2
