Entering service at the end of the Second World War the Hornet equipped postwar RAF Fighter Command day fighter units in the UK and was later used successfully as a strike fighter in Malaya. The Sea Hornet was a carrier-capable version.

The above image is of an RAF De Havilland Hornet PX293 of 33 SQN circa
1954/1955
Located at RAF Butterworth in Malaysia or Malaya as it was then.5
transitioned to de Havilland Hornets leaving 84 Squadron as the sole
operator in the region. In February 1953, 84 Squadron disbanded,
ending the squadron use of the Brigand in the region.6
The De Havilland Hornet in fact
became the last piston-engined fighter to serve in the Royal Air
Force.7
