The Boeing 377 also called the Stratocruiser was a large long range airliner which was built after World War II. It was developed from the C-97 Stratofreighter a military derivative of the Stratocruiser used for troop transport. The Stratocruiser's first flight was on July 8 1947. The plane was released in the late-1940s and it had four piston propeller engines that powered it. The aircraft had surprisingly low fuel consumption for the era and was able to cruise at about 32 000 feet.
The Boeing 377 Stratocruiser was the commercial version of the C-97
Stratofreighter. The two-level 377 was pressurized and could
accommodate 50 to 100 passengers.1
